Even though I'm somewhat disappointed by those news, their current line-up makes perfect sense to me.

I think it's a fallacious premise to compare the new C4S to the 996C4S. Porsche has changed the meaning of the S designation some time ago. S simply means more power nowadays. Therefore the 997C4S is comparable to the 996C4 with a tad more power.
Furthermore, even though the notion of a C4S with 381hp is really enticing, what do you think how much such a car should cost?? If the powerkit alone is worth roughly 10k and the 4x4 system about 7k , the C4S decently equipped would cost around 120-130k.
That's the region of a Turbo.
