Aviation is a mix of natutical units (speed in knots), imperial (altitude in feet) and metric (runway length in meters). Temperature is measured in degrees celsius, visibility in kilometers and runway visual range in metres, however distance between waypoints is in nautical miles. Windspeed in knots, weight in kilos and tonnes (unless you are a Yank, where its in pounds), and pressures in PSI, unless it is meterological pressure in which case Europe is in hPa and the Yanks do it differently in Inches of Mercury.....go figure.
