Autocar has some interesting 997 Targa spy shots in today's edition. They show a barely disguised prototype which looks to be very close to production.

There are two interesting points from the article. Firstly, the point about the 997 sharing the 996's roof - suddenly it all makes sense when you see the Targa prototype. It does of course enable them to bring forward the 996 roof options to the 997 line almost unchanged, hence reducing time to market.

Secondly there are the pictures - they show not only a Targa, but a Carrera S Targa (red calipers, quad exhaust pipes). This something we didn't have with the 996 series.

Interesting? What do people think? Will the weight gain and reduced torsional rigidity detract from the Carrera S concept?
