Sounds more like a last minute specification change to provide a higher horsepower number than the original product request.  Therefore, a bandaid was needed to maintain the horsepower rating under adverse conditions.  Given that the 991 is on the production phase out, Porsche couldn’t redesign the engine to meet the new specifications.  While a bit sloppy, the motivation is understood.  

Don't forget WLTP as well... Smiley

no WLTP on the 2RS. the homologation was still based on the NEDC. GT2RS was presented on the end of 2017 and was on the road beginning of 2018. WLTP was compulsory from 1st Sept 2018. GT2RS European cars were all delivered before that date. Smiley
