I think Porsche have already decided on their 911 hybrid solution. An inline transmission "multiplier" for which according to the reports they have already made future room for within the architecture of their 8 speed PDK gearbox housing. Add to this a power supply and a generation system and job more or less done (in simplistic terms). I suspect they chose this as the lightest weight penalty solution for the biggest return per KG whilst meeting predicted future E7 requirements without massive penalties.....
