To be fair, the new V8 makes 80 more HP, they cranked up the boost and needed more air flow...............

523HP in the 750i, that's quite impressive.

Plus, the hood line is also higher for the pedestrian law.

 

In the majority of cars most of the airflow can or will enter through inlets in the front bumper.

The V8 in the BMW is a "hot v" configuration, with the turbos and intake manifolds in the top, centre of the engine. Maybe that has something to do with the placement of the inlets?Smiley

You’d have a point but it looks as if the upper chamfered portion is purely decorative and doesn’t provide any airflow at all. Also, if you take a look at the S63 Coupe for comparison the grille is smaller and especially lowered spot re having even more power out of a “hot V” configuration.
