I don't think the extra $100 worth of electricity wasted while sitting on an annualized basis will be a big impact for a $100,000 car which still gets over 20 miles per $1 of charging.
It's still going to be an equation of how cheaply can the batteries be manufactured and how many charge/discharge cycles will they handle. This would apply to the future batteries; as far as the current batch is concerned, well someone needs to be an early adopter and we should all say thank you!
