Yes, Musk's behavior was inappropriate but so was what the British rescue team leader said... You don't spit into someone's face if he tries to help you, no matter the reason. I even believe that Musk didn't want to land a publicity stunt, he just wanted to help and thought "his" tech would do the job.

It is my understanding that even the "real" US Navy SEALs offered to help but the rescue team declined for whatever reason.

If you think you get the whole picture from the media, I doubt it. Musk is too much of a public figure to pass on a "good story" on him but yes, he should never have said what he said, this is not worthy of a CEO of a major company, right.

Believed that was addressed above with reply that one is not sure what the Brit said beforehand and after his direct comments on Musk.   Media tends to selectively take the most salacious of statements.  Plus we have no idea what actually transpired at the cave when Musk made his appearance.

It is doubtful that active duty U.S. Navy Seals would be offered to assist with rescue; retired Seals and other assets, yes.

Regardless of who said what, a CEO of a major company is typically held to a higher standard than the average person.     Even a cursory search of the Internet will reveal this to be true.

It is my understanding that the US government offered the help to the Thai government because they had a team in or near Thailand already...
