That vehicle is more impressive than one would have ventured for Mercedes efforts.  Note that it too is a crossover as it is much easier to build a larger battery pack for range in this type of vehicle.  Plus, it doesn't hinder the efforts that crossovers are the hottest sector of the auto market.  

Agree that the Mercedes looks really appealing. That segment with the Merceds EQ and Audi E-tron will sell like hot cakes. Only disadvantage with the SUV-type is that the drag is higher and hence need bigger battery (cost more) for equal range. Quite some difference in range between a Model X and S for instance. Specifically at motorway speeds where the X can consume as much as 30-40% more energy than the S. Both EQ and the E-Tron will also suffer in the range department driving at motorway speed or faster compared with a sedan. If equipped with bigger wheels it will suffer even more. An X with 22" consumes about 15-20% more energy than an X with 20".
