The funny thing is, the actual production would end up the same or even lower if these cars were made available to anyone who wanted one.

No one would pay a $100k premium if he could get it after a short time, many of the current (most) buyers get them because they see it as a money making opportunity (hence so many cars with delivery mileage only), if there is a negligible chance of that, they would lose interest.

I suspect the actual number of real buyers who want a car like this , use it, track it, enjoy it and put miles on it, is significantly lower then the current production numbers are.
