The VIP 918 program was actually interesting and surely helped move some 918 sales at a time where they were struggling...

Sales were slow then,  but that was right before the record Ring lap film was released.  They would have sold out anyway at that point...

Someone at Porsche basically "begged" me to get a 918 when sales were slow. They picked up around one month after that offer but I am actually happy I didn't take it, couldn't really afford it and I'm not sure I would have sold the car with a solid profit in the end. So yes, I assume the ViP program was started to reward those customers who were loyal and got the 918, the car which apparently was a "problem child" (slow sales) at first.

I do not see anything wrong with the VIP program, rewarding loyal customers is always a good thing, I can relate to that.
