Porsche-Mission-E-Tesla-Benchmark-1.jpg

The above emoji comment illustrates a lack of understanding about the automotive industry.  While the Mission E prototype in the photograph is a Porsche development vehicle, note the LB prefix for Ludwigsburg, the two Tesla vehicles have the R prefix for Regensburg, so they most likely belong to Continental, a Tier-One supplier.   This is an evaluation run and it’s unclear what is being tested.   Continental supplies Tesla with radar units, and low noise tires.   At one time Continental supplied air suspension systems to Tesla before it went to a lower cost supplier, reportedly Firestone.   Also recall that Magna, for example, has built a three motored Tesla Model S as a test bed.   Something similarly could have happened here, it is not clear beyond it is doubtful that Porsche, with this photograph, is benchmarking Tesla.

Suburban Chicago is home to a Bosch automotive facility so it is quite common for Bosch to be testing various automakers’ prototypes in downtown Chicago.  It is not the automaker doing a benchmarking test, but a key supplier conducting validation tests.

I have to disappoint you. According to my source at Porsche, these Teslas are rented (Frogress GmbH) cars. Smiley

Then benchmark it is. Porsche, through its sister group, should already have all relevant data as well as conducted testing at their private facilities.
