I was wondering if anyone knows how your ment to run cars which have been sitting for months..

I know most porsches got get driven in the winter and i was wondering are there any special ways when you fire them back up...

reason is i know the cams will be dry and obviously they need lubrication but oil only rises when the revs are 3000 rpm and above, and obviously the longer its just run on tickover after first starting it, the tappets may get damaged because of lack of oil....

i have read race cars like the 962 which can get stored for 9 month or more they take the spark plugs out and squirt oil in the cylinders and then turn the engnine over by hand from a socket on the crankshaft! this frees up stiff pistons which may have rust on them....

but i'm worried about top end wear, my normal vw golf vr6 sounds tappety on start up if i've not driven it for a day or to.....
