True, messing around with the 986 is just a waste of $.
Sadly, so is getting a new 987.
Argh!

Why would getting a new 987 be a waste of $?

Maybe you need a little positivity - Imagine driving your new 987 (+ BHP, interior, PASM etc) off the showroom floor! I don't think you'll look back, its a real step up from the 986. If you've got the cash its money well spent and life's short!

Oh, I agree. I also live by the same motto
And I wouldnt look back when I pick up the car....but I do have a few practical things to consider.
One being the fact that I need a new car BEFORE Jan 1 07 for budget/company finance reasons.
Getting a MY 07 by then isnt really easy unless I pick a car that's already specced, and most showroom cars are ZzZzZZZZzzzz...
Silver, grey with same interior. Not really a load of fun.

AND I need to sell my 986 first.

It's a waste of $ in the sense that its value will decrease rapidly the first 1-2 yrs. The 986 wont drop much more in value.
