I think not so much a matter of whether Bose is worth $1400 bucks, but whether the stock stereo is worth saving yourself $1400 bucks. After all, if somebody is such an audiophile that they think the Bose system stinks, then how do you justify ordering your car with a yet-even-STINKIER soundsystem just to save the lousy $1400????

It's kind of like saying "This $2.95 Big Mac tastes like horse meat, so I'll take two .99 cent cheeseburgers please..."

When all of the options aren't so swift, the least you can do is go with the best you can get, assuming the price tag isn't too stupid. And in this case, I think it's an adequate value...
