Different times . 10 years ago, the market for GT cars was low . No one wanted a track oriented hard core car , expect the track addicts .  Today the demand for raw(er) cars has gone through the roof .  Probably because all other cars have now similar performance , but have become so boring . There is also a hype and lots of money around that people don't know where to put .

And don't forget that internet and globalization was not influensing in the same way back then, that it does today. Nowadays we know so much and are so informed about every little detail. This have for sure impact on valuation and demand for certain cars and also input to the car manufacturers for what customers demands to tailor made offerings like the 911R. The digital era has changed much and will continue to do so!
