As far as I heard, they sold almost 400 cars so far (out of the planned 918).

Maybe the project was too ambitious, maybe Porsche should have used some sort of hybrid booster only in conjunction with a powerful gasoline engine. This would have made the car much lighter and very likely also less expensive. At 490k EUR a piece, they would have sold all 918.

It may be still a success story though if Porsche succeeds in beating the odds, by overcoming the current obstacles like excessive weight and the "feel" of it. The new Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires should also do the trick.

I have faith in Porsche but I wouldn't want to be the first to take the risk.
