Possibly, but another possibility is that Porsche see the 991 as the interim GTE product until they are able to offer a mid-engined V8 that will be able to compete with the Ferrari product. Who knows, but I can tell you that unless the 991 gets some serious performance breaks from the ACO (not the way Porsche should go racing) , they are going to be left in the dust by the Ferrari’s, Corvettes, etc.

I am deeply dissapointed.

How can we talk about car speed that haven't already raced. I am quite sure that it will be very competitive car, otherwise porsche wouldn't merge their factory team with Olaf Manthey.
