Don't expect better low-end torque.  The Carrera S already has a variable intake tract to make max torque across the rev range (started 17 years ago in the 993 Varioram).

I expect better low end torque and better high end power from the X51 package. The whole point of the X51 intake system with the 6 switchable valves is to better handle the transition between different power and torque-optimised geometries. As you point out, VarioRam was once introduced to solve this transition, but had a different design using a second throttle body and a second plenum. Since then it has evolved into the more efficient X51 intake system with 6 valves. By the way, VarioRam was introduced 20 years ago on the 964 RS Smiley

Below is the torque and power curves for the 997.2 X51 package (solid lines) compared to the Carrera S (dotted lines). More low end torque and more high end power. Voila!

Thanks for the good info.  This chart does not seem to be similar to the one on the 991S, otherwise the same peak torque amount wouldn't have come 150 rpm later (it would come earlier if it followed the trend of the chart above).
