Sorry, you understood me wrong. In the AutoBild article further above Georg Kacher stated that the manual gearbox would receive a fairly long 3rd and a short 7th gear. In absolute terms, this is not correct.

The manual gearbox has a 3rd gear that is geared longer yet a shorter 7th compared to the PDK gearbox. The article gave the impression that 7th gear on the manual would be fairly short and geared for performance which clearly is not the case.

Making 3rd gear longer is not a benefit - it'll make the car accelerate slower in an important range.  I sure wish there was a Sport gearing option (like on the Lotus Evora), where all the gears are low and closer together with top speed occurring at 7,400rpm (power peak) in 7th gear.  Maybe with the next GT3...
