The article mentions a two year stint. I have to assume this is a cost free promotional venture.

Regarding the Gallardo and just who are you going  to get to drive these cars: A veteran officer was training a young female officer fresh from  the training academy. When they were engaged in a traffic pursuit, she drove the car up to 65mph in a 65 zone and let off the gas. He told her  to floor it and she said that was the fastest she had ever driven. It would be unsafe to drive any faster.

He asked if she hadn't ever taken a car out to a desterted stretch of road and run it up to 100mph. She said no of course not, that would be  illegal. He then asked if you are pursuing a speeder while driving at the speed limit exactly how long do you think it will take to catch them.

The majority of officers aren't good at driving fast and aren't good with handguns. Fortunately the criminals don't know which officer is responding.
