Ferrari's tactical error was to pit Alonso immediately after Massa. They should have waited to see what happened to Massa before deciding if it was a good move.

With hindsight, the supersoft tyres grained but then recovered after the graining period. That's why Vettel, Hamilton and Button stayed ahead of the group that pitted early during the safety car period.
