Ferdie:

We considered the Tiguan as well and to me, it was a huge disappointment. Tried the petrol TSI with manual, one of the worst transmissions and far from the typical convenient Volkswagen sensation. There were some other minor issues that I would´ve accepted in a Kia but not in a much more expensive VW, such as the engine lid lacking a gas spring to open.

A 1.4 liter petrol engine is never going to be ideal for a car of this size and weight, even if it is a turbocharged TSI.  The 2.0 liter 170 hp TDI is on the other hand quite a little torque monster.  Smiley
And I say that as a former acute diesel-sceptic and VW-sceptic.  Smiley

After 11,000km I can assure you that you don't need to raise the engine lid often anyway. The windshield washer reservoir must be quite large, I guess.  That's the only thing that has needed any topping up or other attention so far. Smiley
