The car will be quite a few years away from production.

The battery tech they planned, that can be recharged in half the time it takes for the Taycan, will be a 'semi-dry' cell or even 'fully dry' cells. It's not available yet, will be at least a couple years away optimistically. 

Only at that time they can start doing the prototypes and testing, which will be say 2-3 years. 

At the fastest possible time, the car is 4-5 years away.

Opinions are divided among us 918 owners. Some think it's an awesome car, but others are meh. I mean it looks fantastic and the promised performance is out of this world, but at the end of the day it's an electric car so not really useful for most.
