Will I fit?, I have to ask

I am new to the board and would like to thank you for allowing me to become a member.

I am looking to buy a 1999 911 advertised at a local dealer.

Before I go and fall in love, I have to ask a question.

Will I fit? I am 6'3" abd 245 lbs. I remember my cousin had a mid 80's 911 and I fit fine. I had a 944 and fit fine.

Will I fit in the 99(996)?

The car I am looking at is being sold at a local Porsche dealer and looks awesome, black on black with 49k miles.

Looks like it rolled off the assembly line.

WILL I FIT?

Thank you for your responses, hopefully I will purchase it and be a forum member for many years to come.

Should be quite alright, worst case you can by reasonably priced ($200USD) seat mounts specially made for very tall guys.

Two friends of mine are similar tall than you are and fit without any problem.
Remenber that germans are very tall and german cars are suitable to be driven for high like yours

Your 6'3" will fit inside the car. But if the vehicle has the standard seats you will find that they are a pain. One can go from fantastic to cranky and irritable in 400 miles. If you wear a size 40 or larger jacket you will need the GT3 seats or equivalent. The factory had complaints about the width of the seat backs from introduction. I found this out in the 2003 996 I owned. Seats were one of the real changes they made in the 997.

Fit or not the majority of drivers I know and seen/notice in a porsche are enthusist Porsche owner. I've seen a 250+lbs guy on a crotch rocket down I-80 and I've seen a 6'5 guy driving a Ferrari. I think you'll be fine. I sold my 911 Targa to a guy who was 6'3 220lbs and I thought he looked just fine.

You should have no problem at all - the beauty of a 911 is that the front seat can be slid far back occupying nearly all of the rear passenger footwell. You can also recline the front seat backrest much further than if you had a mid engine car where the engine compartment would prevent you from reclining your backrest all that far.

German cars tend to be much better designed from an ergonomic perspective than their exotic Italian rivals.
