    GT3 WHEELS

    Has anyone put GT3 wheels on a non-GT3 model?? Will they fit on a Carrera S cab??
    I'm thinking of placing my order with these as my standard wheel; if they will work.
    Does anyone have any pics of them on a non-GT3 car??

    Also what do the wheel spacers do that I see on the Porsche website under bulid your own??

    The GT3 rims would have to fit on a Carrera S.

    I don't think that you will be able to order those as standard from the factory.
    They are reserved for the GT3.... you would have to buy them extra and then sell your standard Carrera rims.

    GT3 wheels will fit C2
    GT3RS wheels will fit C4, TT, Targa
    Spacers push the wheels out - some wheels require spacers because of offsets, some use spacers for asthetics.

    Are you sure there is a difference in GT3 and GT3RS wheels other than the centres?

    Surely they are the same wheel with and without spacers!

    No, they are different. Look at Atomic's post on the turbo board. He baught the GT3 first for his turbo and then changed them to the GT3 RS as they are adapted to the larger back of the Turbo/ C4 and Gt3 RS.
    Remember that the RS has the larger back, like the C4 and turbo

    ok, interesting tho...

    I wonder why the GT3 wheels need to be different then when all the other wheels are readily interchangeable between wide and narrow bodied cars?

    The 997 GT3 is based on the narrow body used also for the Carrera and Carrera 2S and thus as a result uses a different set of wheels

    The 997 GT3 RS is based on the widebody also used by the Carrera 4S and Turbo and thus as a result would require a set of rear wheels with a deeper offset.

    If you were to use GT3 wheels on a widebody car you'd need to get 17/18mm spacers like I did originally before electing to swap my rears out to the GT3 RS wheels in which I was able to use without the use of spacers. The front wheels are the same although there are rumors that they might be different between the GT3 and RS versions. I haven't confirmed that yet.

    Other than Carrera Sport wheel, the other Porsche 19 inch wheels are not interchangeable on the rear. Porsche offers two different offsets, usually 67mm for the rear on narrow bodies and 51mm for the rear on wide bodies. To fit the Carrera Sport on the rear of a wide body you need a 17mm spacer same if you try to fit a GT3 wheel on a wide body. The GT3RS rear wheel has a different offset for the wide body.

    Not to stray off topic, has anyone put C4S wheels on C2S, i.e. wide body wheels with their different offset on to narrow body car? I have tried a search but without luck, thanks.

    Wouldn't work to put wheels from widebody cars onto a narrow body. It'd be possible to go the other way around with spacers but not vice versa.

    Are you sure about this, i read somewhere (don't recall where) that it was feasible but caused wheel to be a bit more towards outside and not sure effect on handling, any comments from out there?

    The GT3/GT3RS fronts are the same so no problem there. You could mount the GT3RS wheels on a narrowbody but do you really want them sticking out 17mm more than stock?
