PASM Ride Height: USA vs. ROW

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the ride height of PASM equipped US model car vs. other world markets? I have a 997 C4S coupe arriving and if available, would prefer to install factory ROW springs. I realize that PASM is already 10mm lower than the standard suspension, but I would like to drop the car by an additional 10mm mainly for looks.

I'm not looking for a radical change or an increase in spring rates which is typical of the aftermarket options out there. I replaced the factory springs on my 993 C4S with ROW Turbo springs and was very happy with the lowered stance, reduced body roll and mostly preserved ride quality.

If nothing currently exists, perhaps the new 997 Turbo's springs would work for this application as the ride height with PASM appears to be lower on that car and the suspension is likely to be acceptably tuned for daily road use.

Any recomendations or opinions are appreciated.

Re: PASM Ride Height: USA vs. ROW

As far as I was aware all PASM equipped cars run the same ride height throughout the world. Its the Sports Suspension which is lower and too low for the American market.

Re: PASM Ride Height: USA vs. ROW

I also want to lower my car when it comes in. IT has PSM but I want to get rid of the gap in the wheel wells and preserve ride quality.

Re: PASM Ride Height: USA vs. ROW

I am also trying to get to the bottom of this as there has been some discussion on here that Techart offer springs for PASM equipped cars that lower ride hide by an additional 15mm which would be perfect. H&R/Cargraphic etc seem only to offer -25mm drops for PASM equipped cars which may be just a bit too much.

    Any additional information, greatly received.

I was on techarts site and only found a 25mm drop???

Too low for american market? The roads in the US are generally better then roads in Europe. The only issue would be some of the rain gutters in Cali. I think Porsche just doesn't want to hear the complaints from US drivers because the ride in their car is to hard.

I seen posts where some new Porsche owners say they want to change too a BMW or Mercedes because of the ride to low and stiff. My dealer has had the same complaints where some new owners want softer springs installed because of the ride.

Personally, the ride height for NA Porsche's is too high. There is 2 to 2.5 inches between the top of the tire and the 1/4 panel, not far off from some SUV's out there.

Then could someone explain why the alignment specs are different for U.S PASM?

    Difference in average driver weights?

Re: PASM Ride Height: USA vs. ROW

Probably simplicity/efficiency.....since the U.S market is over half of all sales, it's probably easier to align all U.S. models the same.
