    I like the idea and technology. But all that to save 20% gas? Hybrid is flawed, they should go all electric or hydrogen.

    Electric and Hydrogen are flawed too.
    A lot of energy is required to crack Hydrogen from crude, or nat gas.

    If you read the latest CAR magazine, in it they have 4 vehicles that get more mileage AND emit less emmission than the Toyota Prius and they are all combustion motors, diesel or gas.
    The Hybrid thing is such a joke. It started as a marketing "ploy" and now has turned into a political scam exploited by politicians who are running with it because of an un-educated public who have no idea how closely tied/related all energies are related.
    You almost can't have one without the other.

    The only thing which can truly get "free" energy is when it uses the braking to charge batteries. The rest has to come from the petrol, cause when the driving vehicle is charging the batteries, it will cost more fuel to drive... nothing is for free. So, I don't understand where the -20% fuel consumption comes from.

    I guess it is because of the yield differential between an electrical engine and a petrol engine. The yield of an electrical engine is over 90% whilst for a petrol engine it is around 60%.

    At intermediate revs, a petrol engine is barely fuel efficient. A petrol engine is becoming more efficient at stabilized speed... Therefore it does make sense to use the electrical engine to move the car from standstill and then at intermediate speed, the petrol engine is taking over ...

    You're 100% there is "no free lunch"... slowing down a car is coming at a cost ... previously you have had to accelerate it at a huge cost ....
