    Going to take delivery of a new E92 M3 Edition this week

    I went into the BMW dealer to get something sorted out on the Z3 without planning to spend a dime. I saw a Monte Carlo blue M3 Edition on the floor. Wow, I loved it and one thing lead to another while talking to the salesman and managed to do a deal so good, I couldn't refuse!

    Catch is, they need to bring me another one from the BMW local headquarters as the example I saw was already sold. Should be a few days for transportation and then it's happy motoring Smiley What a great way to start 2010 Smiley

    Will post photos when I pick it up!

    Yes, great way to start 2010!! Good choise, it`s a great car!! And it`s beautiful... i saw one in Frankfurt (2009 IAA).

    Congrats on the new car

    But I would like to warn you. In 3 months there will be a small facelift on E92/93s including M3. There is rumour about a new option, competition package which would carry some of the features from M3 GTS.

    It is a very nice car and I guess you will love it as a everyday car.

    This is really a great way to start 2010

    I even asked the dealer is there any facelift coming soon as the sedans have had it already. Was just logical the same would happen with the coupes. He said nothing is coming until 2012....

    Can anybody confirm? I can still return the car and I have good relations with the dealer so it will be no problem.

    Your dealer is not telling you the truth. The facelift on coupe/cabrio 3 series is at March 2010. There will be cosmatic changes on the rear cluster and expect new front lights. I don't know about technical changes; nothing for sure but competition package is a rumour.

    Talked to my dealer. There will be a face lift for the 2011 model year with production beginning in April 2010. An "Individual package" is available on cars that are shipping now. The competition package has not been confirmed. Nice car though, I'm going to consider one for next spring.

    Yep, M3 facelift is due soon. There is even a slight possibility of a M3 Performance Package, based on the M3 GTS stuff. BMW started to learn from Porsche how to make money.
     

    Congrats, Mike. The M3 is the hell of  a car and the engine/exhaust sound is from another world, absolutely marvelous.

    Thanks for the info guys!

    Now that I have seen the facelift. I'm not so sure I'm bothered. The oversized mirrors due to new regulations look horrid. I also don't really care if my tail lights are LED or not.

    Only thing that bugs me is the possibility of sharing GTS parts - that I would want!

    I also want a car I can use everyday if need be, the GTS is too hardcore for that IMO.

    You're right RC. A few extra ponies won't make too much of a difference.

    Plus there won't be more than 10-15 in Monte Carlo blue here in anycase. Smiley

    Are there any early news Smiley

     

    I know more about regular E92 / E93 LCI - different kidneys shape, a little different front lights (shape) with white LED Angel eyes and LED turn signals, LED rear lights with different graphics, different bumpers, different side mirrors (due to EU regulations), new wheel options, a little power increase.

    M3 will have same front as pre LCI, only rear lights will be new. And if Im correct it will get white angel eyes in front lights too..

    The "white angel eyes" can be retrofitted (the look) through different lamps on Xenon equipped BMWs.  I plan to do this on my X5 M when it arrives. Looks pretty cool.

     manny congrats mike and hope you enjoy the car. IMO the best small sports coupe money can buy will always be the M3. I saw one in MC blue with graphite wheels a couple days ago and completely fell in love too, couldn't really get it right there and then though

    And in future, if you will want, you will be able to replace tail lights with LCI's (shape will stay same) and angel eyes (like RC already wrote, its easy to replace yelow angel eyes with white angel eyes).

    I did this on my 535d and I refitted the yellow ones after some days. Reason - the white ones you can't see during the day. As they are so white as they are when they are switched off, I decided to go back on the yellow ones, they at least are standing out.

    From WCF:

    The coupe is scheduled to get many of the same design upgrades seen on the '09 M3 sedan.

    Exterior upgrades include a refreshed front bumper and rear lid.  Although blacked out, it appears the car will get similar LED light cluster deisgn at the back.

    Interior upgrades seen on the sedan, like new vents, lighting, and storage concepts, should be similar to those on the coupe.  We also anticipate the same ten exterior color choices as the M3 sold in Germany.

    You're right, aftermarket white angel eyes aren't visible as yellow ones. But I like new LED angel eyes on 5 GT, they are already on long distance very well seen.

    RC, I haven't been on it to be honest, the car only has 22km on the odometer. They said I shouldn't rev the car too high during the engine break-in period. It does have a nice howl at lower RPM Can't wait to let it rip!
