    Bye bye boxster...

Time has come to part with my baby... Its going to be on pistonheads and a few other places but I thought I'd stick it on here as well and see if anyone is interested... Would prefer if it whent to a good home!

    Its a March 2005 3.2 S in Basalt Black.
    Full black leather interior
    Heated sports seats
    Sports steering wheel
    19" Carrera S wheels
    BOSE
    Climate

She has 13500 miles on the clock and has 6 months tax.

Before anyone asks why, well to be honest I'd rather not sell but its not getting enough use and I'm thinking of making a few investments and the money would help!

Hopefully if the financial markets dont get any worse I'll be getting back into the world of porsche with a 911 GT3 perhaps in a year or so...

Anyway if anyone is interested just shoot me a PM... Oh and by the way the picture of a black 987 on a track I have for my avatar is not mine honest!!!!!

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Hehe, the Boxey on the track in your avatar is not yours but you think of getting a GT3
I wish you all the best with finding a new home for your baby The GT3 keeps me thinking everytime I see one
Maybe we'll meet up on a track in the not too far future with "equal weapons"
As for your investments: good timing IMO

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

I'm actually unloading mine too - so if there is anyone in the U.S. interested in my black/black - PM me!

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

I'm thinking of letting mine go too. Is there anywhere anyone would recommend in the UK (Independent dealer, eg) that would achieve more than a part-ex OPC price? Ie somewhere between OPC and private sale price?

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Sounds like the Boxster Board will be evacuated anytime soon

AJ & wtsnet: may I ask which new toys will replace your Boxeys

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Sad to hear that you are both considering parting with your babies - don't know how long I'll keep mine, all I know is that when it goes I won't be getting another one, only for financial reasons. After two months of driving a Skoda Octavia 105 diesel estate 500+ miles a week round trip from Southampton to Leeds - it was unimaginable joy getting into the Boxster today, even if it was only for the commute to work.

Have to say though the Skoda was a really great motorway car, don't knock 'em!

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Well I phoned my OPC today and they put me in touch with their official buyer, nice bloke dont get me wrong but the Pounds28k he offered was not so great... Was hoping to see more like Pounds31..

If anyone knows of anywhere, as wtsnet says, that may offer a good price please let us know

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Hey, OPC offered Pounds25k-26k for mine @33k miles. 05 plate BoxsterS with loadsa toys, (Pounds47k new) 2 services, brake fluid, extended warrantee, front re-sprayed, 4 new tyres...

    May look at:
    http://www.cameronsportscars.co.uk
Anyone had any experience of them? Based near Bath.

@PJ - Well, I'd love to swap to a standard suspended CaymanS with a less extravagent spec... but I realise that the mileage I do just isn't good for future value.
Actually, I quite like the Freelander2, oddly enough.
Different to a sportscar, but suprisingly fun to drive. And half the price.
But may run the Box for another year (well, I've paid all the main bills, so...)

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Sold mine through pistonheads.. lots on there but the trick Ifound is be realistic on the price, don't push it high and then hope yo umight see something, cos if it takes a while to sell people start wondering what must be wrong with the car

Good point and then that 3k (28k 0r 31k) difference starts to become peanuts , I like to get rid of them quick...

Also , ebay can attract buyers that will pay up if yours in pristine condition , sometimes its worth a shot and I myself pulled it off with a Landcruiser 2yr ago , the buyer come in with a silly price and I said NO , but he then phoned back 3 days later because he looked at others that did not compare and decided on my asking price , wow a result ..

Dealers are just a working business con ....

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Have tested a couple of things this week and have come to the conclusion that I've got used to the Box, and now a 'normal' car just won't cut it.

As my GF said I've peaked too early, and coming down will be hard!

Drove an Audi A3 170bhp Diesel this morning, with a DSG box and sport suspension. It's nose heavy, has vague detatched steering, sounds awful, and the DSG box is - well - to me it's just another Auto Box. So I guess I don't have to wait for PDK now! I'm a confirmed manual guy.

The other thing I've tried, and actually I really liked, was the Landrover Freelander 2 TD4. For a Pounds25k big heavy 4x4, it's pretty agile and fun with very quick and precise steering, and the 160bhp has enough poke to harrass other road users and still get 37mpg while the cabin remains well insulated from diesel clatter and wind and road noise.... (And I know I'm going off Boxster topic now)... suits Dorset roads very well. but the down-side are that it's pretty wide in the body, which makes parking in Tesco's and getting out without bashing the car next to you pretty awkward. And the manual gear change feels a little bit plastic in operation. Interior quality is very good though. Hats off to Landrover.
Anyone else had a go in one?

If only I could afford to run two cars!

So I think I'll keep the Box for another year, try to go easier on the mileage, and see if finances will allow upgrade to a Cayman S at some point.

    Re: Bye bye boxster...

Do yourself a favour whilst you are privileged to own a Porsche - do a track day, take the car to Europe, to the fabulous uncrowded roads of France, to the unrestricted autobahn, the amazing Alpine passes such as the Stelvio, have blast round the Nurburgring (I've got to pluck up courage for that one) you don't see more than 25% of what these cars are capable of on our crowded roads.

Don't think it's a garage you need to go to for a cure for that one

I agree. And I must. It's the crowded summer roads that made me wonder about the sanity of driving a sports car on them. If the PASM would be more consistent, I'd be much less a malcontent. Should have specced standard suspension in hindsight. Yesterday it was a handfull. Today it was beautiful (mostly).

Just your luck to have a female car.

I think that myself! Good looking, capable of setting the pulse racing, but prone to strops, and only behaves nicely if she can sense that you are angry with her!
