    BMW's galore

It has been quite a month for BMW's.

Took delivery of the 1M and found a CSL with amazingly low mileage.

    Re: BMW's galore

Congrats on the 1M Mike, I just got a 135i in white myself. The M's are gone here, but are apparently trading at $10K over list on the private market.

    Re: BMW's galore

    Nice ones! kiss Congrats! wink

    Re: BMW's galore

I LOVE THE 1M !!! If I could I'd get one in a heartbeat. such a wonderfull little thing but with so much performance and character to it. it must be so much fun to drive. I have the biggest amount of good envy for you mike. Thanks !

Oh and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you already have a CLS?

Absolutely. From time to time we mortal may buy a CD twice by mistake, but Mike does so with his cars. Smiley

Very, very nice!  If you don't mind me asking, what is the mileage on your CSL?  I've been hunting for one myself and it looks like I may have hit paydirt - found one with 39,000 km (~24,000 miles) on the clock.  Flying off to check it out tomorrow morning and if it's as good as it sounds, I'll be driving off in it.  Smiley

Ya, I have been looking for an M1 as a fun DD, but they are like you said about 10k sometimes more over list....going down this weekend to Miami to look at one, they are a blast to drive.

    Re: BMW's galore

Hahahahaha! You guys crack me up

You are indeed correct, I had one previously - I sold it as it had been repaired at some stage and didn't want an example that wasn't perfect. I have been on the hunt for the last 4 years for another. They were all in really bad condition and tracked extensively. This is the first one I have found that has had a rather gentle life Smiley

    This was the previous car.

@PureBlue: This car has just over 8000km/5000miles in mileage and has the original cup tyres. Good luck tomorrow, hope you find what you're looking for Smiley

    Re: BMW's galore

8,000 km?  That's barely run in.  What a great find.  Smiley

    Mike,

You did your thing, again Smiley

CSL is the best thing that came out from ///Motorsport. 1M is a mini Beast which can be a future classic like Z3 M Coupe.

congrats with the both purchase Smiley

Are you still keeping your M3?

@PureBlue: I know, it was almost too good to be true!

@pride: Thanks Onur! Yes, the M3 is staying. I think it still has some future significance as the only NA V8 M3 they ever made.

    Re: BMW's galore

Congrats, two lovely BMWs. I like how you have a lot of special BMW and Porsches kiss

    Re: BMW's galore

Congrats Mike . How do you find the 1M compared to the M3 ? Which one is more fun ? Does the 1M feel less powerful and quick then the m3 ?

    Re: BMW's galore

Congrats Mike, two of the best cars BMW Motorsport has produced imo. I've been wondering, would a 1M be more fun to drive than a CSL? Short wheelbase, torquey engine, manual transmission, it has a lot going for it...

    Re: BMW's galore

    Very nice CSL, congrats !
The 1 M is also nice kiss

    Re: BMW's galore

Thanks guys. It's difficult to compare, the CSL is definitely a more rewarding drive for me to be honest.

It makes such wonderful noises, even with the windows closed. You can clearly hear the intake at work - I have indeed missed this sound blush

The car is currently getting some work done to it to get it back better than new. I'll post some updates as we go along. Very minor issues to resolve.

Congrats, Mike...as always, very nice choices. kiss

But wait a minute, don't you also have a blue 1 series you picked up when you got the blue M3? i believe it was blue as well. Or is my memory just making up ways to torture me?

Now you are just making up ways to torture Mike, as he won't be able to remember either.  Smiley

Correct, I sold that car to a family member who needed transportation urgently. It was a borderline give away.

    Thanks Christian!

Car is under going minor repairs to get it back to tip top condition.

Respray the front bumper as it had a few chips.

The rear bumper also had a few chips at the bottom.

The front brakes have had a hard life. There is even discolouration from heat.

New OEM rotors/pads going on tomorrow.

    Re: BMW's galore

    Mike,

I kindly advise you use some sort of upgraded pads along with better brake fluid (such as Castrol SRF) and while at it change the brake lines with steel ones. Stock pads are not up to duty.

    Re: BMW's galore

    Hi Onur,

There aren't that many tracks to enjoy here. The car will be a weekend toy. I don't think I will push the stock brakes near to their limit at all bearing that in mind.

I just want it 100% mechanically sound as quick as possible for the interim kiss

    Re: BMW's galore

Wheels are back, new tyres are on and the car is back onto it's own legs.

Even with the bumper off, the car is still extremely clean on the chassis.

New brake discs and pads are on.

Bumpers are going back on today or tomorrow. Then it is off to BMW for a major service and I can begin to enjoy it properly

    Re: BMW's galore

Looking good Mike !  But tell us a little of what the 1M is like.
