    Re: 992 Thread Closed

What annoys me the most is how the upper dashboard line is not an organic swooping line. Instead it dips down into an incomplete looking piece on either side.

The whole interior looks unfinished and unharmonious, put together from parts with just too many design elements. Smiley

Analog rev counter, surrounded by screens, unnecessary screen in the middle, which is furthermore much too big, ugly protruding edge with some uninspired ugly switches, dated looking centre console Panamera-style with a Braun shaver as the icing on the cake. Smiley

Come on guys, at least the design has some practical advantages: you have a nice cupboard where you can put some flowers and the aftershave bottle you need after using the BRAUN shaver Smiley

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Re. the interior, it seems to me a sort of homage to earlier 911 cars... eg. this 994.  Flat face, even the lip at the lower dash.  Rumour has it that the 994 designers wanted a Braun shaver shifter as well, but were overruled.  Smiley

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Honestly I like the new interior.

It looks so much more modern.

As for the little shaver shifter, I Donn't see anything wrong with it. The shifting function has been moved to the paddles, so the shifter is only for selecting PRND. Not like before where one move the shifter to one side for manual mode. There is no need for a giant shifter that just waste weight.

And that little shifter, very 918 like, is much better than say the rotary dial of Jaguar or the push buttons of Aston.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Surprising how badly dressed the Porsche execs are.

Car looks fine imo, give or take a few details. 1) Whereas in the past we all wanted to get away with not using a front license plate, in the future one will be required, to break up the vast horizontal expanse of the front grille. 2) The "brow" above the iP looks odd. 3) Enough has been said about the Braun shaver shifter; I wish they had kept the more functional shifter of the outgoing model; having said that, I still prefer the shaver over push buttons, based on my recent experience with an Alfa 4C. 4) The new seats look a bit blocky.

So we can nitpick the details, but in the end, the newer one will be the more desirable one in a few months; as always...

2C560B01-87F6-4707-8D0D-C80276DEF944.jpegI agree with you, but I think they are preparing to gradually move the instruments out of the dashboard following the taycan design concept.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

From what i understand, the 992 reverts to the 996 as far the exhaust goes.

Apparently, all cars have the same exhaust style (single tip) and the optional PSE can be ordered on with cars with single or dual tip, meaning you can have the single tip design but also have the PSE at the same time.

    @SCG:
You can find a lot of images here: press link
Then the official live broadcast including some pictures is here: https://newstv.porsche.de/en/

I can't seem to find those specific images anymore, but (to me), they weren't available in high res.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

That gearstick is much more intuitive than some buttons. Same for the 5 buttons under the center screen and the 3 to operate the aircon in front of the gearstick. There are other buttons in the cab (for operating the top) which seems not to fit into the design. I personally like the analog rev counter, but just not sure if it fits in with the design chosen.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

Honestly, I really love the new interior, including the much debated shifter.

The interior just looked so modern and stuff.

The only thing I can really complaint is the control system integration, like they pull power off the engine if there are less buyer than expected.
