Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

Yes Tim, it is V10. But, from the pic you can also see the problem they got with it-V10 needs more air then V8... Bigger side blades openings look awfull IMHO. They need to solve this things out till autumn 2008...

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

    Thanks for the info.

I wonder if they knew about this "problem" all along or if some Audi engineer went "DOH" when they started testing the V10

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

I quite like the bloated intakes. makes it more sporty and less 'smart-like'
this will be one hell of a (unfortunately very expensive) car!!

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

This would be such a hot car with turbocharged 600 bhp, 350 km/h top speed and a price tag of 200.000 Euros. It would sell like crazy.

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

make it 520hp and 120000 EU and it would sell even more!!

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

I think it's great how Audi got trapped into creating such a nice "picture frame" for the license plates on their cars. I mean it's gotta be the most f'ed up "solution" to the problem. Especially when you realize there's little need for a BIG grille (air intake) in newer cars anymore.

Don't you just love how the inspiration for car styling used to come from mammals and now comes from insects?

    Ooops..., sorry..., rant over.

This one of the most clueless post I've read in a long time.

The front of this car is is nothing more than form following function. The big grill is there, because, the V8/V10 revvs higher than 8000 rpm!! Do you understand the kind of heat that generates?

With dry sumped lubrication it needs to suck in all the air it can get, especially, when the engine is place in the back.

No problem if that's the factual situation for this car. There's no shortage of vents on the R8.

Lucky for Audi because they've put this ridiculous massive grille (or license plate frame) on all their cars.

    "Clueless?"

No problem if that's the factual situation for this car. There's no shortage of vents on the R8. Odd though that the R8 grille (top picture) looks like there's a plastic piece blocking most of the "essential" air intake.

Anyway this is all lucky for Audi because they've put this ridiculously massive grille (or license plate frame) on all their cars (bottom pic).

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

    One more pic...

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

    and another one.

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

Audi styling in many ways reminds me of their 1930's grand prix cars. Function over form.

Re: Audi R8 V10 Testing on the Nurburgring?

I think a better buy than the R10 will be an R8 with the RS6 582 bhp engine transplant .
