A good advice to new owners...

I read some posts about oversteer, understeer, top speed, etc.. We have to WARN you: keep it slow over the first couple of hundreds of mls. Even if you don't care about the car's break-in, the car is brandnew and so are the tires(!), drivetrain parts and brakes. The tires alone need at least a couple of hundreds of mls until they're really sticky. And I wouldn't want to drive at full boost pressure over the first couple of hundreds of mls either, just imagine a faulty part or somebody at the factory messing up during the build process. The break-in period also has the function to assure that everything works fine and that no surprises come up to the surface. Of course faulty parts can create trouble anytime after the couple of hundreds of mls but it is my experience that when sh.t happens, it usually happens at the beginning.

So keep it slow at the beginning, even if it is very tempting...I suffer with you.

Also, get a CD audio track of a 430 accelerating and play it when driving your 997TT. It will help you enjoy the car that much more.

    Sorry I could not resist.

Our excitement over the 997TT must really upset Nick. I must confess I'm bad, the more jealousy and insecurity I sense, the more I look forward to the 997TT!

    Please I need help too.

Sorry to rain on the Nick parade, actually I like his blunt statements which usually causes an uproar, but I don't get your advice RC. This applies to all new car deliveries and owners, right... not only the 997 Turbo... and this also applies to everyday driving on public roads in general. I think it is called common sense

Do I sense a bit "jealousy" that you have not driven yours yet while other have already taken delivery?

But I hear that only 50 such CDs were made available in the U.S., they cannot be duplicated, and the MSRP for one is about 50K. You'll probably just have to pay another 10-15K, that is if you are special enough of a human being to have such the privilege to own such an exclusive CD. It just gives me goosebumps thinking about it...boy what would the folks at Starbucks think...

As much as I would LOVE to kick your a.., verbally...I agree with you. The 997 Turbo exhaust sound sucks, SUCKS, S.U.C.K.S. ... HORRIBLE!!! Don't understand how Porsche could do something THAT pathetic to this wonderful car. The only hope is that they did it for marketing reasons because they want to sell an upcoming sport exhaust. Hopefully.

Nope, they had the cats and it wasn't THAT early during development. Strange. I still think (and hope) that we're going to see a sport exhaust for the Turbo.

Yes, among the snootiest! Any other comments?

My guess is that Nick has not even heard the exhaust of the 997TT and is just using this thread to bag on the 997TT because that's his way. Nick, am I wrong?

Today, I had my first personal look at the 997TT and clearly it is better looking in the flesh than in the pictures. RC I was told by the saleperson no PSE for the TT. I was not aware that they did not offer it for the 996TT. There must be a technical reason for not offering PSE.

But isn't the GT2 turbo charged? It sounds pretty good. I am not sure what Porsche's thinking is on this.

Good reason to sell more PSE's if the car sounds like crap. That's one thing you don't have to worry about with a Ferrari. You just buy the Tubi or the Kreis-Sieg to be the envy of all the Yuppies in town .
