I was driving it and testing the car deeply. I cant believe that this car is going 322 on the Speedo without any changes to the engine. I got it up to 306 and had a long run on this speed. This was the absolut maximum, the road was going slightly downwards and there was no wind from any direction. So even with a strong backwind, I dont believe this speed with the standard engine. One thing I just recognized which was different to the car I had, this was the paddle shifter, I had the manual. It might be a difference in that?
BTW - the car I drove hat 16000 km on the clock. So it was well run in. But it was in an awful condition. It was one of the Audi Test cars. Front stabilizer had a lack (loud noises in corners and offsets of the whole car front), oil loss (my front yard was full of oil) and the optic wasnt good either as it had lots of scratches and so. Also the consumption was on an average of 23 ltr/100km (on a normal thrid-mix drive of 300km where 80 km Autobahn (highspeed) 40 km City and 180km land streets on normal speed) - my C2S Convertible would apprx take 13.5 ltr on this speed. It was a real putt-off for a test car which killed my fasicnation of this car within one day (and I really love that look and was already looking for any availabilities of this car). So I steped back out of dissapointent but every time I see this car I have to say for me its just the most beautiful car on this price level!

Just a hint-first production cars did not have full 420hp(same story about M5). So, car that you drove was probably from press fleet(one of the first in production run).
R8 that are produced from September 2007 are really that fast. The one that I tried few weeks ago did 315km/h without any problems(and there were still some revs so, 322km/h is pretty realistic). It was also manual gearbox.
First bunch had a rev limiter in sixth gear at 7750rpm. New ones are using all 8250rpm...

oops mine has been produced in week 40, October...but I will not try the 322km/h immediatly...

wow - if this is the case I even more be angry to get such a wracky car for test drive. What does Audi think doing that. I think I will write a letter to Ingolstadt - this is redicolous. I completly forgot to tell that this car had such an ugly, cheap inside (full plastic, only seats and steering wheel in leather), that ALL my friends seeing it said, that this doesnt look better than an A3! Thats the real way to sell those cars!
