Uneven rear tire wear

Recently replaced both rear tires due to wear. Before I replace I noticed the wear was located on the inside of both rear tires, hence the reason I did not detect it earlier. Even though the car does not pull or vibrate I considered a four wheel alignment until a Porsche mechanic explained that negative camber is figured in and inside wear is normal. Is this true?

I also noticed more of a bounce (in the rear) after I put the new ones on...I am far from a professional driver and it might be the new rubber otherwise all is well and the rear air pressure is at 36 psi rear and 28 psi front.

Having more negative camber in the rear than in the front helps keep the rear end planted during spirited driving. I does contribute to a bit of understeer but makes the car more predictable.

Your tire pressure seems a bit low and 8psi is a fairly big difference between front and rear. Check your tire pressure data plate but I think that 34f/36r might be more appropriate and leave a bit of room for increase as the temperature increases. On the track your cold pressures should be lowered to approx 30f/32r.

Of course, these are all nominal pressures and should be adjusted to your taste and circumstances.

Oops, just noticed that this was on the Boxster board so make sure to verify the actual tire pressures. My numbers were for the 997.
