How can I get this cool keychain?

    I saw this on Page 35 of Christophorus issue 306 (Feb/March 2004).

I've looked at the Topspeed web site , but I can't seem to order it online.

    Any ideas?

Re: How can I get this cool keychain?

Mike, try the german version of the site. The online-shop is working, and it should be easy enough to use even if you don't speak german. Anyway, here the path to follow:
    - Shop -> Schmuck / Schlüsselanhänger -> Porsche 911 Turbo engl. -> In den Warenkorb legen -> Warenkorb -> Bestellung aufgeben -> [your data] -> Absenden!

    Hope this helps...
    Greetings,

    Thanks, Pierre.

It seems that they do cash-on-delivery transactions.

I put in my order, we'll just have to see what happens next.

    Your cars

    Hey Mike,
Just noticed something. Cool cars man!
But it's quite funny that, arguably, the sporty one had the cruising tip gearbox and the cruising one has the more sporty manual gearbox
Tell me how are you enjoying your cars man?
Any difference between the two of them in term of dynamics (Rigidity, weight, feel, etc.)
    Thanks.

    Fanch,

That report wil have to wait for Spring. The TT Cab has very few miles yet.

    Re: Your cars

Well hurry Mike will you please! You think we can wait till Spring!!!

    Re: Your cars

Fanch - I think in the Spring (or Summer), Mike may have an even more interesting review for us

    Re: Your cars

Exactly, which is why he should hurry!
Mike, get out there now and put on 10,000 miles on the clock, if you don't take too many breacks, you should be done in about three days.
Look forward to hear from you for Valentine's day!

    Re: Your cars

Oh boy, Mike, I really overlooked that you have a new(?) beauty. Congrats!
It is a shame you don't post more pictures, the interior looks very very nice.

Bavarian weather report: we have snow outside and it is windy and moisty. Of course it is cold too.
Just can't wait to escape this weather soon...

    Re: Your cars

    Mike,
The sun is shining and 80 outside here in Florida, I can have 10,000 miles on it by end of March and then you could take over for Spring!!!!
    lol

Lapis exterior with the hard-top in place, outside the motorpool. Some say it looks like the Albanian embassy (If there was such a thing in Cincinnati).

    Re: Your cars

    Very nice pics, Mike. Thanks.

BTW: if you can't get that key chain from the US (for whatever reason I can't imagine), I can order it and mail it to you.

    Tip Coupe vs. 6-speed Cab

    This is sort of convoluted.

I ordered the Tip in my 996TT coupe because I imagined that I would do some track driving with it. (What did he just say?)

I'm rather taller than most of the people Porsche tries to accommodate in their understanding of driving ergonomics. I found that the center console in the 996 Cabriolet that I already owned (same interior as TT) interfered with pleasant use of the heel-toe rev-matching technique of which I am so fond. My lower leg was forced to crash into the console side when I tried to operate the pedals in this way. Very distracting to encounter while on a track, to say the least. The GT2/3 console delete option was unavailable for MY 2001 when I made the order.

I had heard from some Porsche racers here in Cincinnati that 996TT Tip test runs at the "Ring" showed the Tip cars to be far from slow. I then imagined that keeping both hands on the wheel while downshifting onto the "Keyhole" at Mid-Ohio would be more fun than the standard one-handed technique.

That was the theory. Since I haven't been able to make time to go to the track in the past three years, the fruits of the decision have yet to be sampled.

The TT Cab with the 6-speed is easier to explain. This car is a share-a-ride with my wife and SHE likes 6-speeds more than a Tip (and I can go either way), so that's what we have in the cabriolet .

Also, the cabriolet HAS to have memory seats, or it won't work for this duty (forget Euro-GT3 seats). She stands 5'0" (1,53 m) and I am 6'4" (1,93 m). In the old days, if she had been driving one of our cars with manual seats, I often had to go find her and ask her to get back in the car to move the seat away from the steering wheel so I could merely enter the car. Memory seats solve this issue completely.

    Life is good
