My brother was yesterday on the Nurburgring with his Lotus Exige... He told me that there was the new GT3 doing some test. He was not able to take a photo, as after each lap, the car went straight into the box and there was security not allowing you near it!!!!
He also saw the new AUdi Q7, could take some shots...

you could be correct danny, i have missed quite a lot of posts but from memory regarding this thread, it was the gt3 first than the turbo. my apologies if i'm wrong

This doesn't mean the Turbo will be presented soon.
Right now we heard about early spring for the GT3 and late spring/early summer for the 997 Turbo, maybe the other way around. I can't give out precise information due to the possibility that our sources may be compromised.
As soon as we get a confirmation from a third side, we post more accurate dates.

With the GT3, I'm hearing 400-420hp, and with the Turbo, I'm hearing 460-480hp -- both with the GT1 derived dry sump engine. Is this still the thinking? Someone, maybe it was Autoweek in the US, reported that the GT3 would have a version of the 3.8 M96 derived unit from the Carrera S. This is got to be a mistake.

I can't believe that either.
I'd be very surprised to see a version of the Carrera S engine in the next GT3.

Yes, I'm sure someone has mentioned this before, but a 408 hp Carrera S motor in a GT3 would just further prove that they weren't trying hard enough with the 355 hp one. Many already think that the C2s should have came with a powerkit, it would be weird if you can really get another 53 reliable horses out of that motor not just 26 from the powerkit.

AutoWeek did publish that information. I don't know if other U.S. publications followed suit or not. AutoWeek has not been very accurate with new info over the past couple of years. It is clear no one at the magazine has any real data regarding the specs of the 997 GT3.

At least they are busy building some test cars. When I did the factory tour first week of July I spotted a box with front axle parts labeled "997 Turbo"
That was in that part of the factory there they do the 'wedding' (combining engine and chassis).
