Can anyone suggest some good sites for info/discussion on the Aston Martin AMV8? After many years of happy P-car ownership (and an F355 thrown in there), I've put a deposit down on a V8 Vantage.
Struggling to find one myself - there's a few of us on here with similar deposits so you'll be able to find some info amongst us once the first deliveries start taking place.
What are the lead times looking like on that side of the pond?
I'm not sure how true this is across the US but I put my deposit in with the 3rd largest AM dealer in the US (Aston Martin - Lotus of New England) and believe I'm #24 on their list. They don't have their allocations yet but they are telling me it should be next Summer which to be honest seems really optimistic to me.
Actually, I'm now living in Amsterdam on a 2 year expat assignment so if the wait is longer than they predict it's not a big deal for me (up to a point!).
By the way, my first "live" sighting of the car was last weekend at Goodwood which was a truly amazing event.
AJ I forgot to mention two moreobvious sites for info (without discussion forums): astonmartins.com and astonmartin.com.
I assume that your in the flesh sighting was positive. Could you share any thoughts. I won't get a chance to see one until they hit the US circuit (supposedly in September). John
Been a long time member of AMOC. Boy has it grown in the past year! The AMV8 has really rejuvinated it and seemingly AMV8 customers are more internet active.
Used to be a quiet little board of gentleman, but it keeps growing and growing. For that matter, so has Rennteam.
My sighting at Goodwood was brief and I unfortunately did not have time to get down to the pits to have a closer look which I'm kicking myself for! On the track the car looked and sounded amazing. Great proportions and "presence". Interestingly, I saw a couple of others when I was leaving Goodwood later that afternoon on the highway.
I'm probably leaning toward the meteorite silver/grey with perhaps a combination black dash, tan interior and black carpets. I want to see what the green options are...I'm not crazy about lighter metalic green (almond Green?) that i've seen but a medium to dark metallic green might be nice too. I've thought about midnight blue as well but my last three p-cars were midnight blue or close to it so I'm ready for a change. My 355B was titanio grigio which is another favorite color of mine, especially with a dark tan interior.
I guess I have plenty of time to decide and hopefull see some of the color options as cars are delivered.
Amsterdam: I'm here for a us based Software company doing sales/business development for the Northern Europe region.
AJ, It seems that we are going in opposite directions. My current car is meteorite silver type color. For the V8 Vantage, I am pretty much decided on midnight blue with two tone black and cream interior. Could change any number of times between now and ordering though. John
Pistonheads is a great site and the one i have seen the most aston owners and fans at. It is english based but open to all marques. The db9 racing green which is probably "british racing green" is nice.
I have a little video of a candy apple green db9. Kind of weird but whatever. There was a video of the am v8 doing laps at the nordschliefe on a german car site. It sounded very nascar like. Good luck.
I'm sure I'll go through quite a few more color ideas between now and when I get handed a set of keys! Midnight blue is a stunning color and my wife still will be lobbying heavily for it so who knows. I just find that certain silvers and greys tend to reveal the car's shape and subtle countours a bit more than dark colors. Another color I've always liked is Ferrari's Grigio Alloy which is a light blueish silver metallic. Looks great IMO on the 360 but I'm not sure how it would look on an AMV8. I'm aware of the fact that the roads just seem to be filled with silver cars these days so I do want something a bit different...then again an AMV8 in itself should be a pretty rare sighting.
Two tone black and cream sounds really nice for the interior.
I heard US pricing was released today: $110K base including gas guzller. Nicely optioned is going to be about $120Km it seems.
