I doubt it.
As far as I know no CGT has been delivered to US customers yet. Maybe it was something else, a replica, a modified Boxster or whatever.

I asked Csaba Csere a few weeks ago if C and D were going to be testing a CGT sometime soon (party crashing was on my mind) and he replied that his Porsche contact at the Tokyo motor show said that a USA test of the CGT would not be in the cards. Csaba then asked me if Car and Driver could test my CGT after it was delivered. I replied it would be old news by 2005, with which he agreed. I was glad he didn't want to test my car, since I've witnessed a few of their performance tests in progress. They get really good numbers in 0-60, etc., by not being so "gentle" as other testers.
The car's Michigan mission has my interest, since it may be a factory car of some sort. To my knowledge, no customer deliveries anywhere in the world have happened so far. But, I could easily be mistaken. Maybe Keith Crane (Crane Communications -> AutoWeek & Automotive News) gets the first one?

I'm not too far away from Ann Arbor at the moment and I am seriously considering hunting for it. But why would Keith Crain get the 1st one? Surely Porsche has customers who would be in line in front of him. Seinfeld, perhaps? I assume it was a test vehicle (if it really was a GT), but I couldn't think of a valid reason there would be one in Michigan today.

It was just a wild guess with no special knowledge on my part. As an AutoWeek advertiser, I have occasionally run into Keith Crane in various places (like the Chicago auto show) and he always seems to tell me all about everyone he knows. I can't remember the details just now, but the dark recesses of my memory seem to recall some special story involving him and Porsche in the past. Maybe a few glasses of a good red will bring it back?
He was a VIP close to route 23 that popped into my head.
