'987 S July Build Completion Date!

I spoke to my dealer today (Manhattan Motorcars) - and after some initial confusion of when my deal date was supposed to be, he went into the system and looked up my order.

He told me that the calculation date (maybe I misheard him) was July 25. When I asked him to clarify, he told me that the 25th was the date that my baby would be COMPLETE. Additionally, he said the vehicle would be shipped and sent to the vessel the day after, the 26th.

It should arrive by Labor Day as scheduled!

More news as I get it...and of course pictures when its delivered! :-D

I wish you well with your delivery. You should know that Porsche has told me cars have been delayed by about three weeks. My '05 987S was completed 6/1 and only made a boat that left around the end of June. It is due to arrive in Baltimore around 7/15 and then has to be shipped to the dealer here in NY. My understanding is that once the car is "on vessel," it takes about 2-3 weeks to cross the ocean. The reason yours may be coming around labor day and not sooner is that Porsche operations close for August, and it's possible that includes Baltimore.

When you get your car, head over to Porsche Pete's, where you'll find a bunch of 987 owners from the NY area.

What colors did you get and what options?

AJ,

Your car has probably changed status to PRDEST, meaning Porsche AG expects it to be completed that date, but it may be a few days later.

As far as how much longer you wait...

My car completed 6/2, went ONVSEL 6/11 and landed in Brunswick, GA on 6/22. Arrived at my dealer (Austin, TX) 6/27 and picked up by me 7/2. Chrome tailpipe was in place so hopefully the previous delays with this part are no longer an issue. 800 miles later all is well.

I suppose my ONVESL date would be 7/26 (he said it would go a day after it was scheduled to be completed - 7/25)...and with a 3 week delivery, would get here by 8/15 and I'll give it a week to get to Manhattan so hopefully 8/22 ... <sigh> my fingers are crossed...
