    Starting from standstill with max power

    So matter of discussion:

    Starting from stand still trying to use full potential.
    Sport mode:On
    PSM: Off

    with 4000 rpm on the rev and pressed cluth,release the clutch,tell my how it felt.

    Then we discuss our opinions

    or 4500 rpm better )

    Tried it once and all hat happened was a large cloud of white smoke appeared in my rear view mirror. The smell told me that it was my clutch and not the tyres that were burning. Not sure what I did wrong but I don't think I'll be trying a flying start from 4000 rpm again. Something strange also seemed to happen, not sure if I imagined it, but after the initial smoke I depressed the clutch, released the accelerator pressure to reduce the revs and then tried to re engage the clutch, but there was no bite. It felt as though something was stopping the clutch from reengaging. This all happened in the space of about 1 to 2 seconds. After that I pulled away without any problems and the car has been fine since. Is it possible that some kind of device intervened to prevent excessive wear to the clutch? Not sure if this is related but has anyone else notice the sound of a small micro switch clicking when the clutch is depressed past about the 3/4 mark?

    I guess doing a burnout in this car feels like the excitement of a ruined clutch and a huge repair bill, only it is over much faster.

    Most modern cars have a starter inhibitor switch attached to the clutch pedal. This is the reason you cannot start the car without the clutch depressed. People with sensitive hearing can often hear this switch (or the relay it activates) when pressing the pedal.

    4500 rpm is better!
    But if you smell the clutch, you released it to slow.

    i posted this thread,without mentioning something important,just to see if anyone else will report this.
    When i did it in my car, the rear end was bouncing up and down and while a loud noise was occuring from behind the car,i suddently heard an extra loud noise from the right back side of the car as the wheel was going to break! or like something broke.
    Of course,nothing bad hapenned but the reaction of the car was exactly like BMW's act in the wet and greasy road.

    I think this kind of reaction is generated due to the lack of LSD.

    Thanks for this - I've often wondered what the "click" was - and your explanation tells me why there was a similar click on my last car - and Audi TT with DSG gearbox - on the brake pedal as you had to press it before the car started.
