RC:SciFrog:We all should have bought a 918... Everyone had a chance to do it... I passed because I though it would be sub $600k and didn't like the hybrid tech. Big mistake
Same here but let's be serious: I don't know about you but I would have done everything to keep it but my wife would have never allowed it (too much money...). Better not to get tempted...
Exactly, we all could have and should have but if I had, my wife would have ensured I lost the ability to father any more children. And not in the nice Doctor approved method!

SciFrog:My wife would have said just get it. Then first weekend: where do we put the kids?
My wife is the same.
Today: I love the 911 GTS Cab, I can't wait to get rid of the family SUV.
An hour later, after she put her tennis stuff and some groceries into the trunk: Maybe I keep the SUV, I don't know if the 911 is the right car for me and my needs.
Later this evening: Can't we keep both cars? You have a toy, why can't I have one as well?
Me: If you pay for it, no problem. Keep whatever car you want.
Her: OK, I keep the Cayenne then.
I bet that in a couple of days, it is the other way around.

Careful, the most popular off-topic thread is watches, which is pretty much the same thing...

Interesting information as to how the GT was conceived.

So it appears whatever press blackout was in effect is lifted: DriveTribe have had a GT for a few days now, and here is Jethro's review - as usual this will be the first of many. Lovely filming as usual from this team;

Dispite being a V6...it sounds kinda nice.
I think Jethro review was very honest. This car looks great and all but it started as a race car. It's too noisy on the street and feels like a race car rather than a road car.
I think it is refreshing to see a more focused / raw car, when even nowadays the most "track oriented" cars made by Porsche / Lambo / Ferrari / etc. can practically be used as GT cars. Love the interior. State of that art suspension. Would have been nice to have more emotional motor, but it's a moot point, since this car is not really available to many.
This is like one of those homologation specials from years gone by.
German car magazines also had some driving time in the GT.
They called the GT a true race car with street homologation (barely) and loved the race car feel of the car but they disliked the quite noticeable turbo lag and the exhaust sound (nice in the lower and higher rev end but otherwise that typcial generic V6 Biturbo sound, although quite loud).

Jay Leno dropped by a cars and coffee event yesterday in the LA-area with his Ford GT. Amazing design in person, not as large as expected. Build quality is not as high as other cars in this price range, but that is not what you are paying for. I don't think the interior looks cheap at all, as some others have said. The entire car is very "purposeful".
EWe then saw Jay again a few hours later driving in the Malibu canyons.
Didn't take good pictures, but here they are...

Interesting new Brembo calipers. Looks like maybe you can change pads without removing caliper (by removing that black part)...

noone1:How was build quality not as high as other cars?
Seems put together fine and I didn't notice any bad panel gaps or anything. But just looking at it, you don't get that "fine watch" feeling you get even with a Carrera GT (which was parked nearby). This is probably an extension of the functional minimalism of this car, rather than it being built poorly or being made of inferior materials. Kind of like everything was built ot be as thin / light as possible. Reminded me of what Lotus would build if they made an LMP car.
BTW, I would definitely go for a metallic paint with this car, even if it is metallic black. Flat black looked a little off on this car to me, perhaps because of all the long body panels and curves.
