Re: anyone own an SLK55? ownership vs 996tt

you're thinking about the BMW shark fin aerial, thanks for telling me about my spelling error

thanks about the wall lol, i'm also currently adding on to the house

yes the CLk is slow though so i don't really drive it, more of a backup vehicle, we bought our employee an SLK200 last year and i drove that thing around a little, was quite fun

Re: anyone own an SLK55? ownership vs 996tt

    Even,

I had the opportunity to drive both, and I still found the Boxster S to be more exciting and more agile. To me, the SLK55 felt like the steering was marinated in novacaine. It also felt far heavier (presumably because of the folding hardtop) which is probably why the car needs all that power. I selected the Boxster S simply because it was more fun, it looked much better (more proportional in side view), and mainly, it had a 6-speed manual tranny. No matter what anyone says about how good the 7-speed slushbox is on the SLK55, it is still that - a slushbox. Sports cars and automatic tranny's just don't make any sense - if it were an SMG/F1 type ordeal, that would be a different story...oh and I forgot, the Boxster S has an 'okay' exhaust note... note the extreme amount of sarcasm...:-D

    LOL

You didn't say what you were adding to the house: cars, employees, both or more walls?

I've also driven both.I found your slush box comments odd, since the SLK55 7-speed can be driven as a manual..all selected gears are held..the best of both worlds I would have thought. The Porsche S has a great exhaust note but unfortunatelly next to the SLK55, it's all show and no go.As I said, the Porsche S should be compared to the SLK350 not the 55.

Where you drive and how often you drive are very important factors as well, for an occassional weekend drive in the coutry, the manual S would be great.I just think that the SLK is more versatile.
    To each his own.
