My track is at least two hours one way and events are very few and far between. Additionally, to participate for a day event is around $1000 for insurance with a huge deductible and a cap on collision damage.

However, there are autocross events in parking lots which enable you to get up to 4000rpm's as you go around cones. I would be better off in a Miata than a GT3.laugh

My nearest track is 2.5 hours away. Others I go to 5 to 6 hours. We have none in Switzerland. I do not insure my car for track. Costs are ridiculous. I am just cautious. I have been now for 10 years and never had a damage.

where there is a will there is a way.

Otherise , the new Miata is probably the most fun car one can have for low speed limited roads !!

Very true. I know a guy in my town who went to court because of a damage he got by another driver on the track. That driver refuses to pay up (he wasn't insured either, only road insurance) because he claims that this guy I know didn't drive a "clean" line when he passed him. There are even videos of this but the lawsuit is going on and on and on because neither side wants to back down (damage is over 20k EUR for my guy and almost 15k for the other one) and the experts don't seem to find a common ground either. Lawyers are the only ones happy with this...I guess. Smiley

Oh, a friend of mine just drove sideways into the gravel at a track a few years ago and his damage was over 6k EUR just because of the rims and paint. Ouch.

This is a much larger concern on public roads than on track events.

I would never ever drive a car on track without insurance. Also when driving race cars on track days or during actual races Inhave them  insured to a certain amount with a deductable of EUR 10k. I have experienced the worst case scenario by myself and seen numerious cases which ended in tears i.e. oil spills, t-boned by others or a mechanical defects causing offs.

This is why Porsche Euro Delivery is such an incredible bargain - full insurance included (for 16 days free, longer for additional modest cost) and it includes accidents on race tracks (as long as not actual sanctioned race) with only EUR 1k deductible.  Never found a deal like that...

If I wanna pickup a car in Stuttgart: First I have to pay to do it, and then I have to drive it back home... Totally sucks.

Well, this is actually a part of the fun but paying for pickup? Not so much. Well, at least you "save" delivery cost (around 1000 EUR at German dealers). Smiley

Must be a big dealer, as there were only 500 worldwide for the 997 2RS -

FWIW, my dealer got a total of 6 GT3 RS and mine was the first to arrive in June, the later ones started drifting from September onwards. I know all the other guys who got lucky with their GT3 RS allocations, it is the same track oriented crowd that will be competing for slots for the GT2 RS (if it really does happen) and whatever new top of the line GT model will come along in future...friendly competiton, but competition it is...

I doubt that is the gt2. No vent on the front hood.

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

This could already be the next generation under the body of the current one...difficult to say.

The missing vent wouldn't be a problem, it could still be a GT2 RS test mule.

Judging by the license plate (don't ask), I think this is the next gen though.

Christrian, I agree with you, but to the extent some 992 tech may already be used for a possible GT2 RS, they may be testing it for both.

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

It will be very unique and impressive limited edition supercar with true Motorsport genes.

    Future favourite car of AP.

    Really need to know more?

Don't torture me... I signed a pre-contract and want to know as much as possible...will it be worth trading in my 991 GT3 RS for this (plus the substantial price premium)?

well, since it will be a limited edition car i shall go for it if i get one (number 2 on dealer's list) and sell my RS for it. that said i am rather sure that the GT3RS is more exploitable and fun on the road than the GT2RS will be. on track, when lap times count, surely the GT2RS will rule.

it will be very interesting to see the 488 GTO - GT2RS shoot-out!!!!!
