    Winter tires for my 986: Conti ok?

    Been offered Conti WinterContact TS 790 V NO (225/45-17") as replacement for my Falken Eurowinter tires (which were complete crap).

    Are the Contis up there with the best?

    I am one of the ppl reading this, but it doesn't snow in Australian cities so can't help you. I don't even know anything about winter tyres.

    Ok ok, I have the Pirelli Snowsport 240 N rated. Love them, they look good.... not too winter tire-like (if you know what I mean ) and the traction on snow, ice and mountain roads is really good. I live in Switzerland and drive my Boxster S also in snow.

    Don't know the Conti's personally, but I see them a lot here in CH on Porsches in winter, so they must be ok as well...

    I am not an expert for tires. But I had Conti Winter Sport Contact and they were quite good. At least I had no issues with them.

    The only important thing for all tires is that they are N-rated. This may not be so important for winter tires as you probably do not go that fast with them. Anyway, the Contis are N-rated. So you can't go wrong at all.
    I am not so sure about your previous set by Falken whether they have been certified. At least I never heard that Porsche approved any tire beyond the 4 premium brands.

    My Falken tires weren't N-rated, and they sucked.
    Falked makes great sports tires but apparantly their winter program isn't very good.
    My Peugeot mech said they had several Falken winter tires that were out of balance, so it wasn't just a Porsche problem.
