    996 Turbo upgrade for 2004

    Has anyone heard about Porsche raising the power of the 996 Turbo for a last hurrah before the arrival of the 997 Carrera in the third quarter of 2004? I've heard on good authority there are plans to offer the 996 Turbo with the previously optional power upgrade kit as standard, meaning it will go from 420 to 450bhp before bowing out. Sounds feasible, but I'd thought I'd ask the experts . . .

    There are always variety of ways for their offerings. Look at the 40th anniversary 911, comes with X51 package as standard but price of it is higher.

    I'm sure if they decide to do that for the Turbo which includes the X50 package the price would be way higher too.

    But 997 Turbo is rumored to come around by '06/'07 not anytime soon.

    Makes sense to me. But why would someone want to buy the old model if the 997 is around the corner by then (2006/2007)?

    I would be pretty surprised if Porsche would offer the X50 Package for a zero cost option as a last hurah . If Porsche did that then the owners who spent $18K for this option would be on their last hurah in regard to ever owning a Porsche again .


    It would seriously upset alot of people when they find out that there 18K option is worth nothing when there vehicle is sold. I would love to know how reliable of a source that info came from .

    that's already the case. X50 is worth dirt on resale as it is. heck, even porsche finance is smart enough to ding it hard on residual calcs for their leases. X50 (like X51) is absurd, and insults our intelligence.

    I have not heard that and the X50 does bring zero on resale.
