    996 GT3 RSR

Let the facts speak for themselves: 1100 kg weight and 445 HP.
If you need a track car (the RSR is not street legal!) and money is no issue, the RSR will be available from Porsche Motorsports for private Teams too.

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

    I really like it.

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

    Now THAT's a real beauty...

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

    Euro 279.000,-- - right?

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

that would have been a nice body kit for the GT3 RS...

zzboba, I agree with you, visually it's what I hoped the RS would've looked like...

me either! and first rumours indicated that the GT3 RS would get the wide body kit from the AMLS cars and even the digital dash... what we get now is just a GT3 update with a retro paint job, nothing more. let's face it. currently i'm in a state of disenchantment regarding the RS.

btw, luigi, when will you take delivery of your vehicle? are you going to pick it up at zuffenhausen?

I am going to pick my car up from the factory but was told that it had to be from Stuttgart not Zuffenhausen. Is this my dealer feeding me a line or is there someone else that I have to speak to to make this happen.

    Thanks

    P.

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

zzboba, I am still making a decision concerning the RS.
My car is due to arrive in November, but I'm not sure what to do.
As we already talked about, I really despise the strategy PAG is using, and the fact that they will probably build around 400/500 cars just because the demand is there really makes me sad...and angry.

On the product front, I don't want to pay just for the badge, for 20000 Euros more there have to be substantial differences between the RS and the Clubsport GT3, from the things I hear the ride and performance should be very different, but if I take a look at the differences on the spec sheet I think I'm being fooled...

zuffenhausen is an urban district of stuttgart, so i'm pretty sure that your dealer is talking about the same factory:

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

Many Thanks, Just goes to show that the British education system has let me down again in my complete lack of Geographic knowledge

Mind you I thought that this was where they made the motorsport vehicle or am I completely missing the point?!?

no that is weissach, not too far away from zuffenhausen. but there's no plant, it's just the petrolheads (hopefully) thinking about new nice sport cars. they do other things for other companies and industries as well, e.g. they helped developing the opel/vauxhall zafira van.

did i get it right? are you really thinking about cancelling your order? i am disappointed as well, but i still think that this is the street and track racer of choice. challenge stradale is nice as well, but a lot more expensive, not limited any more as well, F1 tranny... and ferrari, according to a recent "auto motor sport" magazine test, wasn't too truthfully about the weight and performance specs. and an ordinary GT3 might (we all don't know by today) be equally fast and fun and a 20K premium for a paint job would be a lot, but IMO the GT3 RS' depreciation will be lower for sure.

so... i wished porsche would have taken some greater pains in RS development (reducing at least 100kg, GT3 RSR body kit, "carrera RS" written on the side ) -- but i still think that this is an awesome car. can't wait to drive it!!!!

the only thing i really fear is that the 997 will hit the showrooms next year and due to the fact that the 997 is only a 996 with a major facelift, that a new GT3 (or even RS) with a significant gain in horsepower will be out shortly afterwards. i would really be piXXed.

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

    zzboba, let me explain:
I think that even a regular Clubsport GT3 03 with the same tyres as the Stradale would be able to post similar lap-times if not better in some circuits.
So I'm not questioning the validity of the base.
But since the differences to the RS seem to be minimal and production not limited anymore, why not go for a Clubsport GT3 and use the 20000 Euros for improvements? It's just an idea that came to my mind recently but it's worth considering...

Concerning the 997 GT3, I don't think it will be out before fall 2005.So it wouldn't be that bad...

    More RSR Pictures

    Enjoy.

i agree. having track racing in mind this is quite reasonable. rather invest in power upgrade, tires etc than in the RS badge.

but on the other hand, although the RS is visually not what i was hoping, it certainly looks more special than the stock GT3 (i love white sport cars anyway, btw )

and the 20,000 premium could pay off some day because the resale value will be higher proportionally.

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR

    luigi,
much more interesting than RS will be ruf's 400 HP 2700# RGT... it might even be interesting in Europe, altho' i believe the car is targetd to USA

    Re: More RSR Pictures

I saw this exact car being built in Weissach; when I was there
for a visit 3 weeks ago. It looks fine to me ! Revvv

Re: GT3 RS porsche UK website update

porsche's website feature about the GT3 RS is now available in english:

    Re: Even more RSR Pictures

someone at F6 posted some really nice RSR pictures:

    FLAT-6.net

...hell of a car. i really wish that the street RS would have looked like this one. only A LITTLE BIT!!

Beautiful! -- thanx for the pointer ZZ. :)

WOW! Makes you want to go racing!

    Re: 996 GT3 RSR
