    Your favorite 911-variant

As there are hundreds of different 911, all with very different characters, I asked myself, what would be your favourite 911.

I only recently discovered the existence of my chosen one, it's a 964 Turbo S Leichtbau, only 80 were made, I absolutely love the purposefulness of the car, the shape, the purity, everything

    (look at the door"handles")

    Close second and third are

    GT-silver 997 GT3 CS (matblack wheels)
    964 RS 3.8 Cup

    Now you guys!

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

Yeah, that's a nice one. Most powerful RWD Turbo until the GT2.

My favorites are the early street-legal racers:

    1967 911R
    1970 911ST
    1973 Carrera RS 2.7
    1973 Carrera RSR 2.8

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

Quite possibly one of the hardest questions ever.

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

hahaha, Porker you really know your stuff!!!!

that's also one of my favourite all time porsche's, but what a porsche !!!!!!

Its insane the prices they have, but I absolutely love them!!...

I think my all time favourite porsche model is the 996carrera mk1, I'm in love with the design, the 18" sport wheels, even the headlights (ala boxster 986), the rear, everything!!!, I even love the interior(so simple, so sporty), and add the PSE, and its even way better !!!!

Although there is a big big difference when driving a 997 vs a 996, that floating sensation disappears in the 997!!

I like your taste, pretty extreme cars!!

@ Alex: I must say, your taste is pretty unusual, most Porsche-fans are not so fond of the 996 Carrera mkI, I'm one of them, the only mkI I like is the GT3, especially in Zanzibar red

    Thx for your replies!

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

    Difficult!
    1. '73 RS2.7
    2. 996 GT3 mk1
    3. '63 911 "901"
    4. 993 GT
    5. 993 Carrera S

RS2.7; just the most beautiful racecar in the world. The 996 GT3; love how the lines of the wing tie up with the lines of the car. The 901; just the godfather of all 911's. The 993 GT2 for its raw edges, and the 993 Carrera S is just the most beautiful incarnation of the 911.

Take a look at this 964 Carrera RS, I'm in love with it, dreaming of owning one someday...

Very nice and that Maritime Blue is the best color for that model!

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

964 RS what a beauty. I love this car.

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

Most people will mention the RS as it is as close to the iconic 911 as you can get. I'll take it a step farther and say the 1973 RS Lightweight. Also:
1994 964 Turbo 3.6 (the last REAL turbo)
1984 SC/RS (maybe the most purposeful street 911 ever produced, under 2200lbs in street trim)
1995 993 RS Clubsport (hurt your kidneys good)
1988 Carrera Clubsport (the 1st clubsport, no gloverbox door, no passenger sunshade, no undercoating, no central locks or windows.)
1991 C4 RS Lightweight (Why won't Porsche do things like this anymore?)
1968 SWB 911S (Best and last of the short pocket rockets.)

Eh... you probably forgot Stern rubis, this discreet pink I have on mine

RS 92 is quite new for me but definitely an incredible car, with purity in its behaviour

Many ex-owners also come up to me regretting they sold it

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

    1972 RS
    964 Turbo 3.6L
    993 Turbo and Turbo S

Of course, that's what I meant to say

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

Difficult..., not the cars itself, more the ranking.

    1. 911 Carrera RS 3.0 (1974)
    2. 993 turbo MKII (1997/1998)
    3. 993 Carrera RS (1995)
    4. 993 GT2 (1996-1998)
    5. 964 turbo 3.6S MKI (1993/1994)
    6. 964 Carrera RS (1991)
    7. 911 turbo 3.3 (1977-1989)
    8. 911 Speedster turbolook (1989)

The '70s 911, especially the RS and turbo, stands par excellence for the idea of a sportcar and the spirit of 911.

From the new line, series 993 is in almost all variants outstanding, not only the above mentioned versions, but also the Carrera (S/4S), either as coupe or cabrio.

I think series 997 ties to that...no doubt for the carrera or GT3 variants. Turbo could be a little more pure as 993 or earlier variants had been.

I still think that 911 is on the right way, even with strong competition on its way. Porsche has to balance that 911 keeps in its pureness, on the other hand not loosing grip at the technical war.

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

I just love the 930 Turbo G50 in black - my favorite 911. But I prefer to drive my GT3...

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

'73 RS 2.7 White with red trim

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

Is there a website with photos and technical specs of EVERY type of 911 ever made?

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

    993 TT.

The last time Porsche was King of the Hill.

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

The proper ones that were never sold in the USA!

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

    993 Turbo S

    No 996 GT3 RS ?

My favorites of the moment (they change from time to time) in no particular order:
    -996 GT3 RS red/white
    -964 3.6 turbo Black
    -993 S Vesuvio
-911 Speedster 3.2 narrow body Silver
    -964 Targa 92-93 Black

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

LOL, I got carried away I think! My dream garage would consist of a red/white RS2.7 and a red/whit 996 GT3 rs... That and dozens of other 911's
    -Joost-

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

    '72 911 2.4S (green)
    '89 930 turbo (black)
    '95 993 turbo (dark blue)
    '97 993 RS (yellow)
    '99 996 GT3 (artic grey)

ah well, even a nice '87 Carrera 3.2 is a very sounding and pleasing car

    Re: Your favorite 911-variant

Has to be my 997 version.
