    Ferdie:

That looks like an awesome ride. Very happy that it turned out as it expected for you and hope that you will visit once again in the foreseeable future. Thanks for taking the time to post these pictures.

Is there anything in retrospective that you would do differently? Rental, route, accommodation?

Wondering who was forced to drive that Seat shoebox during vacation. indecision

Haha...yea...well we had a very young guy with us (brother of our school friend). So in his 18 Avis do not provide a Porsche. The only car they were able to provide was - Polo or Seat smiley

Oh...almost forgot. One more thing that I really didn't liked in 991 - Start/Stop option.I don't think that Porsche is this kind of car that should provide this option(IMHO). When I stop on the red light I like to hear the "heart beating".....Good thing that you can turn this option OFF and enjoy driving wink

If you wanna real Porsche 911 - get you a 997-2 ( GTS ) . The NEW is not always BETTER  wink

Please comment on the four 911s you had the chance to drive.

Well. I like 991, but....after I had a chance to drive it I must confess - 997 is the last real Porsche 911 for the moment. 997 gives you a feeling of a real sports car. 991 is more like car for fun. Especially you can feel it when you're sitting inside. Lots of plastic parts, too many buttons.....and the electric hand brake was just killing me. The steering wheel in 991 is much lighter....I don't know which one I like more....The 997 steering is very hard comparing to 991, it gives you a feeling of of good car control on the road, but 991 steering is also very obedient and light(I actually liked that). 991 I drove had a PSE and sport chassis system. Must say, all the way I drove with PSE on. The sound was amazing! We got crazy about the sound of the engines while accelerating in tunnels :) Sport Chassis button were used not so often. The Sport button is a great thing as usual. The autobahn was too crowded to get crazy with the cars, but we still had a chance to enjoy them.

    Thank you for the comments.

The two 997s you drove were 4WD, if I gathered correctly from the pictures and this could be the reason behind the heavy steering. The 991 sterring is more comfortable compared to the 997 RWD and more so to the 997 4WD.

This exactly the impression we had when we had - an admittedly all too brief drive - in 991's at Silverstone recently. The 991 felt more like a Panamera coupe than a sports car. Maybe it was partly the much more plush interior, I don't know. I was afraid that climbing back into our nearly 4 year old 997/2 was going to be an anti climax, but it wasn't. Autocar's various tests on the 991 say that it really comes alive at 9/10ths - but I want a sports car to feel special all the  time. I'm taking our car to our local dealer for it's 4 year major service next Monday and will try to blag a 991 as a loaner for the day to get a second impression. Don't hold out much hope though, as the sales manager and the dealer principal are probably still pulling shrapnel out of their anatomy after the meeting I had with them over our Cayman debacle. Probably end up with an Audi A1.

Here's the article I posted of my impressions of the various Porsche models we drove at Silverstone, for those that may have missed it.

    Yes it was 4WD
